A brilliant strategy with mediocre execution will get a company nowhere. A decent strategy executed well can see a company succeed even in a tough industry. Therefore any company, especially smaller businesses, need to strategize and execute well. In a small company it is often the same people who develop and execute the strategy, this has it advantages and disadvantages and means that in a small business you need to have some strategy and some operational knowledge, and the two don’t necessarily go together.
